Bobbie’s Flowers – The Perfect Arrangement

Did you know there are multiple steps to arrange the perfect floral arrangement? Me either. All this time I thought I was a flower pro and….the whole time, I’ve been doing it all wrong.

Lucky for me (and you), I learned the tips and tricks on putting together a beautiful floral arrangement, all thanks to Paula with Bobbie’s Flowers. And not to mention, it’s somewhat therapeutic, for me at least. I will definitely continue these tips at home!

To learn more about my class and the steps you should be taking, read more below!

Oh and P.S. there may be a giveaway for a beautiful arrangement– scroll down.

When we arrived to Bobbie’s Flowers, the flowers were all placed together, in a bunch, for each of us…. and our job was to remove the flowers from the (already beautiful) arrangement and start from scratch, separating the flowers into 3 piles:

Green and Fillers

Secondary

Main

Side Note: they keep all their flowers in a cooler which keeps them cool, beautiful and ready to arrange!

The wonderful Paula instructing us how to get the flowers / leaves just right!

and the separation into piles starts now…

After you get the piles separated, it’s time to cut the stems in an ANGLE. Keyword: angle. To measure out where you want the flowers to sit in the vase, hold the stems up to the vase and determine how high / low you want the arrangement to sit and then you’re ready to c u t.

Tip: Use actual flower shears vs basic scissors. Get them here: http://rstyle.me/~a0APZ

Now, you will put your greens and fillers in first. P.S. Don’t use ALL your greens/fillers as you will want to use some at the end!

Tip: Remove the foliage (leaves, etc) on the stems! There should be no foliage below the water line so take it off prior to putting in the vase.

Following the greens/fillers comes the secondary flowers (these are the smaller flowers, not the main large flowers).

Lastly, now for the main show + attraction, it’s time to put the MAIN flowers into the vase. You know the saying, ‘less is more’…well, that’s not the case for floral arrangements. The more, the better–in my opinion of course (and some others). I like my arrangements to look lavish and make a statement. The good thing about floral arrangements is that it’s YOUR idea, YOUR arrangement- make it yours. I’m just here to give you the tips + tricks I learned.

Tip: Remember the part where I said to save some of the greens/fillers? Well, put the rest of them in now! Distribute where you see fit….cover any ‘holes’ you have!

Few more things, change water DAILY, or every other day + give the flowers a fresh cut each time you change their water — this is super important, especially the first time.

It was so fun seeing you and your flower arranging skills. Love the blog, but just to let you know, our flowers are kept in a cooler, not a freezer. If flowers freeze, they will die. Your photos are adorable!
